Papaver Somniferum – Hungarian Blue Poppy Seeds

A lovely member of the Papaver Somniferum family, Hungarian Blue offers a beautiful violet colored flower with intense dark hues at the petal bases. With a pale green pollen center, its stunning blooms are contrasted even more, and it makes an ideal addition to any tropical border of red, oranges, yellows, and purples. Meanwhile, planted with a more sophisticated palette of pale whites and yellows, it can offer a fantastic highlight color which will show its flowers off to their best ability.

Also known as a Breadseed and Florist poppy, Hungarian Blue offers another fantastic benefit to its blooms in that, as petals fade, plants will develop a sculptural pod bursting with seeds. This is fantastic to use in flower arranging, or can be left on plants through the winter months to add some magical intrigue as frosts, snow, and dew cling to the pods.

Easy to grow, Hungarian Blue is an annual variety which will thrive in most soil types.
