Poppy Seeds. Papaver Somniferum. Annual Flowers. Breadseed Poppies. Very beautiful mix of single heavily fringed poppies in dark purple shades. Large blooms are produced in abundance and once spent, reveal large seed heads suitable for dried flower arrangements. Also known as Florist Poppy, Breadseed poppies produce incredibly showy, large single poppies. The flowers are followed by highly ornamental seed pods that are prized for floral arrangements. The pods are chock-full of tiny seeds that are perfect for breadmaking and baking. Very easy to grow 2-3 foot plants. A spectacular display in any garden.
Most poppies are very easy to grow. They are a favorite of gardeners in every state for rock gardens, flower beds, containers, and most anyplace that you want color. Since poppies are self-sowing, if you allow them to go to seed you may only need to plant them once. Sow in Fall or early Spring.
