Papaver Orientale – Queen Alexandra Poppy Seeds
A regal sounding Papaver Orientale variety, Queen Alexandra poppies will alight any border with huge blooms of salmon pink. With a beautiful soft and satiny texture, this variety of poppy seeds provides breath taking flowers up to five inches wide. And with a soft salmon pink hue with dark spots at their base, they are perfect specimens for a soft pastel and sophisticated garden palette.
A perennial variety of poppy, Queen Alexandra will bring a touch of royalty to any garden with large blooms atop of sculptural three foot flower stalks. Adding a fantastic element of height to any border, these flowers will seemingly hover above other garden plants, their huge saucer like flowers attracting bees and other insects to the hum of the garden. A perfect showy flower, Queen Alexandra is beautiful when planted together to form a clump of pastel pink. Alternatively, plants can be spread through a border to create highlights of color which will draw the eye along.
Growing well in most garden soils, as long as they are not waterlogged, Queen Alexandra needs little maintenance to thrive. With 50 poppy seeds in this packet, plants can be sown in the fall or spring directly into a border, or into peat pots at any other time of the year. Meanwhile, being hardy for zones 3-9 will ensure that this regal beauty flowers year after year.
