Meconopsis napaulensis. Mixed Satin Poppy Seeds. Native to Central Nepal to South-western China. This genus contains some of the most exquisitely beautiful of all flowering plants. Not the easiest of plants to grow, they do best in moderately rich, woodland soil- moist yet with perfect drainage. However, do try them – we guarantee that when you succeed in flowering them, there will be celebrations and the neighbors will be invited in to see for themselves. A superbly beautiful biennial or short-lived perennial. Not only is it well worth growing for its lovely shades of yellow, blue, red, purple and white flowers, each up to 3 inches across, borne profusely on a branching flower stem reaching up to as much as 8 feet in height. Particularly beautiful in winter when its leaves are formed into a rosette, which can be over 3 feet across, of fine-cut foliage covered with reddish hair. A very special poppy for experienced shade gardeners and collectors. Simply beautiful! E-mail a friend about this item.
