The petals have a crepe-like appearance and a satiny texture. Each flower can measure 4 to 6 inches across. In the center of the poppy's flower rests a very large, velvety seed capsule surrounded by prominant, dark purple-black stamens. Altogether, these flowers steal the show when they are in bloom. The oriental Poppies are the most accommodating garden plants, vigorous and free flowing and succeeding on light or heavy garden soils, indeed any soil, provided that it is not waterlogged. Bold and brashy, they will make a spectacular feature in your garden! Delicate tissue-like blooms up to 5 inches across perform a mystical dance in the winds of your garden. Simply beautiful. For dramatic brightness, nothing rivals the flamboyant Oriental Poppy.
